Markus Stocker (markus.stocker@gmail.com) interned with Clark & Parsia, LLC for one year in 2008. He was involved in the development of OwlGres, PelletSpatial, internal and customer projects, as well as related publications and he had a fantastic time in DC. He is still actively involved in the support and development of PelletSpatial.
Currently, Markus is a PhD candidate in environmental informatics at the University of Eastern Finland. His main interests are for ontology, machine learning, data mining, biogeochemistry, ecology, exposure and risk assessment, environmental monitoring, and geographic information systems.
Prior to Clark & Parsia, Markus joined the semantic web group at HP Labs Bristol (UK) where he implemented a selectivity-based SPARQL optimizer for ARQ as it was first discussed in his master thesis at the University of Zurich supervised by Prof. Abraham Bernstein.
