Introducing POPS
POPS is an award-winning, cost-effective expertise location and workforce analytics solution for the enterprise, especially organizations that are human-capital intensive. In many organizations, locating the right person for a job can be major driver of cost: it’s either too expensive or takes too long to find the right person, with the right expertise; or the wrong person, with the wrong expertise, becomes the default choice.
Using semantic technology, Clark & Parsia LLC has created POPS, a solution for expertise location problems.
POPS and Semantic Technologies
POPS integrates existing enterprise information and presents it in an intuitive and powerful user experience, based on Pelorus. This information integration is achieved rapidly and accurately through the use of semantic technologies like RDF, SPARQL, and OWL. And since POPS is based on semantic technologies, POPS services are easily reusable throughout the enterprise.
POPS includes both faceted navigation and semantic search capabilities, as well as being extensible and reusable via RDF and SPARQL. POPS also includes social network analysis and visualization tools which supplement existing social networks within your organization, to facilitate expertise location.
POPS has been NASA’s agency-wide expertise location solution since 2007. Major organizations within Department of Defense, including Army Corps of Engineers, have implemented POPS. The technology behind POPS is in use at Fortune 500 enterprises.
